    Winning Tickets to FBC2017

    Ontario Apple Growers Instagram Contest

I won my way to FBC2017, thanks to Ontario Apple Growers!

As a food blogger and the ultimate foodie, I am a member of Food Bloggers of Canada (FBC). For the 5th consecutive year, FBC is holding Canada’s only national food blogging conference. This year the conference is being held in Ottawa. The event includes Canadian bloggers, brands and speakers and gives everyone an opportunity to network and attend workshops.

As a new food blogger, this kind of professional development is a great opportunity for me! When I got my blog up and running since March 2017, I was disappointed to find out I was too late to register for this sold-out conference.

Last month, I saw that Ontario Apple Growers who is a Platinum sponsor at FBC2017 was sponsoring an “Ontario Apple moment photo contest #ONappleAday!” I was so excited! They were giving someone a chance to win their way to FBC2017, including a full conference pass and hotel accommodation.

For their fall apple harvest season, Ontario Apple Growers was looking for a special Ontario Apple moment photo. It could be an apple picking memory or perhaps a favourite apple recipe to share.

I immediately knew that I had the perfect apple moment memory photo and story to enter!

On September 8th, Ontario Apple Growers selected the winner. Out of dozens of beautiful apple moment entries submitted, they selected my photo! I am so excited and thankful to Ontario Apple Growers for this opportunity!

Here is the story of my apple moment memory which accompanied the winning photo:

“This special apple moment was captured by me on a beautiful September day many years ago (although it seems like yesterday). My then 10-month-old daughter apple picking at her uncle’s Niagara Ontario apple orchard along with her cousin of about the same age. As her cousin was taking a generous bite out of a bright sweet red delicious apple, I’m sure she was thinking, “please share with me, I love apples too!” My girl is all grown up now and still loves apples. In fact, she has an apple on her desk every day since she’s an elementary school teacher!”
